The German Football Ambassador e.V. will be strengthened with a further proven expert. The newly elected Walter Bensemann Prize winner and DFB board member Horst Hrubesch will immediately expand the circle of jurors to include the jury chairman and kicker publisher Rainer Holzschuh and will contribute his expertise as early as November when the nominees for 2019 are selected.
Horst Hrubesch, who successfully qualified with the team for the World Cup in France as coach of the German women’s national team, said: “The German Football Ambassador is a great idea that I am happy to support.
The European Champion (’80) and Vice World Champion (’82) Hrubesch had a successful player career with national and international titles in the club and the national team before he was attracted to clubs at home and abroad as a coach. But for almost twenty years he found his true destiny in training and further education in the field of talent, where he won a whole series of titles with various U-teams of the DFB. He stands for down-to-earthness and honesty and is held in high regard by his players and companions alike.
Rainer Holzschuh, who recently gave the laudatory speech for H. Hrubesch on his appointment as Walter Bensemann Prize winner, is pleased about the further reinforcement in his jury team: “Horst Hrubesch is a role model for everyone in the field of football. His international experience will enable him to play a formative role in the annual search for the “German Football Ambassador”.
