On an official visit, the German Football Ambassador e.V., represented by President Roland Bischof, is currently in Istanbul with Loris Karius, the 2018 Public Award Winner.
Karius was pleased to hear the news of the visit of the German Football Ambassador initiator Roland Bischof to his “new” club Besiktas Istanbul (on loan from FC Liverpool), which was organized at short notice. Especially since Karius could not attend the award ceremony last year, due to the season still ongoing at that time.

Now Roland Bischof, who travelled from Germany especially for this ceremony, was able to present Loris Karius with his award personally. In the course of the handing over, the support of a social project selected by Loris Karius is also part of the award. Bischof commented: “Unfortunately, neither of us have yet managed to meet in person for the presentation of the award. But any contact has always been very uncomplicated and relaxed. I am therefore very happy to meet him and to be able to present him with his well-deserved award. German football has been multicultural since childhood, whether in Biberach or Berlin. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why German football professionals become cosmopolitan sportsmen and women who are socially and emotionally involved where they work”.
The Public Award in the “Players” category went to Loris Karius, then FC Liverpool, in 2018. The goalkeeper from Biberach prevailed over ten other nominees in the public voting with great support from the fans and thanked the guests present at the 2018 award ceremony via video message.

“Winning the Public Award means a lot to me because it is a recognition of my performance. Football has the power to bring people and cultures together. I am proud to be able to represent Germany abroad in the best possible way”, said Karius.
