With the slogan “Your snapshot for eternity”, Eintracht Frankfurt midfield ace Sebastian Rode is launching his latest project: a selfie app for fans that allows football fans to take photos together with their stars – especially during Corona time. In addition, every StarSnap (www.StarSnap.de) does something good and supports the non-profit association Deutscher Fußball Botschafter e.V. (German Football Ambassadors). (www.fussballbotschafter.de), whose good idea Sebastian Rode has been supporting for several years.
Sebastian Rode open to new, innovative ideas
Rode is generally open to new things – a few years ago, for example, he was the first football player in the world to launch his own cross-media footballer app, which allows fans worldwide to call up news about his person at any time with their smartphone – thanks to facial recognition by simply focusing on a photo (www.sebastian-rode.de). His participation as co-initiator of the new selfie app “StarSnap” is therefore a logical consequence.

Sebastian Rode: “We had the development of ‘StarSnap’ in the pipeline for quite some time, but especially through Covid-19, the decision matured more quickly, so that I could somehow be with my fans even during the difficult times. We want to make this possible for other football players in the future.” On the charity approach, Rode continues: “I like the idea of Deutscher Fußball Botschafter e.V., even though I have never played abroad myself. And if I can help, I’m happy to do so.”
Cross-media fan campaigns in planning
The president of the non-profit organisation, Roland Bischof, noted, “I’ve known Sebastian for a few years now and it’s just nice to see how down-to-earth and empathetic he remained off the pitch. It’s an honour for us that he now supports our idea with his latest initiative.” Rode, who also played for Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund before returning to Frankfurt Eintracht, is planning to carry out cross-media fan campaigns on the subject in addition to the opportunity to take his own selfies. For this, Florian Ohle is at his side to advise him: “Sebastian’s fans are always very interested and active, as he also deals with them intensively.”
In the next step, StarSnap plans to make its platform available to other players as well, so that they too can provide their fans with “the snapshot for eternity” with themselves and thus give many fans at least a little joy during this special time.
